Looking at the maxi bloom label the label it's easy to see it contains 5% calcium and 3.5% magnesium. With such high levels of these 2 elements I had to ask myself, is calimagic even necessary if I simply increase the PPM's of maxi in my reservoir solution? I'm going to experiment. The addition of calimagic adds nearly 200PPM to the reservoir and causes the solution to become unstable forming precipitate within 48 hours that worsens by the day completely trashing the reservoir within 72... I recently stopped using maxi and switched to Jack's 5-12-26 due to continuous unresolved calcium precipitation issues that contaminated my reservoirs endlessly. I tried everything to prevent the problem. RO water. Tap water. Hot. Cold. Don't add PH up until the day of water in. Omit the Armor SI. Mix PH up with a gallon of RO water and slowly add to the reservoir. Rub my tummy and tap my head at the same time while I pray for no precipitation. Nothing worked. Add maxi ONLY to the reservoir... I'm doing top-feed coco in 1 gallon pots. I find the 1/2 inch tubing to be a bit big to make a ring out of for my pots. But the 1/4 tubing gets clogged too easily. The guy at the hydroponics store told me that start at 300 ppm (combination of your nutes) for early veg at the first feeding, then every week take it 100ppm more. Hey all! I thought I'd share an experiment about achieving from seeds to R/DWC directly. First, sprout the seed in paper towel... Should take ~48 hours, then fill your netpot with clays. Take the little one with squeezers and place it gently, leaving the shell's side in an upside position, between two pebbles, to make it easier for the head to grow and reach for the light.... I'm putting together a high pressure aeroponics system and having a difficult time finding info on accumulator tank pressure. My question is what PSI should I pressure my bladder tank to if I plan to maintain aprx 80 psi to my misters? Hello all.my seconddwc ever. Strain is humbolt headband. Gh tri flora series and cal mag plus. Distilled water and 3% hydrogen peroxide 8 ml pet gallon. Res temps stay in the low 60's high 50's. I've heard a rumor that PPM levels in an aero setup should stay approximately the same over time. If the ppm levels rise or fall, this mean the target value is off. Just about to start flowering my third grow since I started aero. Despite all the warnings from naysayers here this is what I have experienced. I have not had one clogged spray head to date, and I am running 22 of them on three circuits in three chambers using the same res and accumulator and pump. Since we use less nutrients in dwc as roots are always in contact with the water would we use less of the biostims too? I have several products that contain triacontinol, some with kelp,etc.. always used less nutes with dwc maxing at 500ppm(0.5ec) many of these biostims say use 1-2ml per l... I've been a long time user of GH's products. I've since switched from their liquid flora line to the dry maxi line. I only use their maxi powders, potassium silicate (armor si), and floralicous plus. Instead of burning through endless amounts of liquid cal-mag I switched to magnesium sulfate and calcium nitrate in dry form. It's much cheaper and I stocked up on both. Currently designing my next flood & drain system, and planning to grow much larger plants this time around. Regarding individual bucket size, is a larger root mass always more beneficial that a smaller one? If so, would it be fair to assume that larger buckets would be better than smaller ones? Afternoon, so abit of history for this first.. I had deficiency issues raising ec falling PH, turns out I had been using grow nuts in flower by accident. Title pretty much sums it up. The only time my ph needs up is at the beginning of a new res. "Guy at the hydro store" told me to only use silica during flower. I recently got a PPM meter that checks EC CF and PPM (700 scale) and TDS calibration solution that is 342 and 1000 ppm. (I am pretty sure it converts to 700 scale. I am at .86 EC currently and 600 ppm.) The solution does not actually say what PPM scale it is on, but says NaCl on it which makes me think it is calibration solution for a 500 scale ppm meter. Getting ready for my first grow which will be RDWC using a Timber Redwood VS if it ever gets here. I will be sprouting from seed this time. Im new to coco and trying to figure out the FloraFlex pot sizes. It seems most people grow coco in at least 3 gallon containers. The biggest container floraflex offers is 8 inches that look like they might hold 1.5-2 gallons of coco max. Are these supposed to take you all the way through flower? How big of plants are they expecting you to grow? Again, im new to coco so this may be standard size. Im just trying to figure it out. I also understand that you can stack them but they have pre... I've been having issues recently with my holding reservoir (32 gallons) going rancid in just a matter of days recently. What I mean by that is there is clear slime on the air lines going to the air stones and on the water line of the plastic trash can. I even have a pond pump in the bottom to add circulation. My water temps are around 76-78 and I suspect that might be my problem. I then started reading about adding 3-5ML/gallon of food grade hydrogen peroxide to my reservoir to keep bad... Sorry if this has been gone over, if so please direct me to the information! I am having some trouble wrapping my head around the concept of refilling a reservoir that still has nutrient solution in it. I'm specifically referring to flood/drain ebb/flow, but any recirculating rez would apply. Let's say for example (I made these numbers up from recent experience), I add 20 gal of RO water @ 6.8pH and 10ppm, I add 5ml per gal of MagiCal, bringing the ppm to 260. Then I add veg nutes... I noticed a week or so ago that my Northern Lights auto has some browning spots on her. I had some initial light burn as my leds were a bit too close to her. Backed them up a bit but still noticed some browning on newer growth. After doing some research it looks like calcium deficiency but I don't know how. I'm growing in coco I buffered with cal mag and I'm using tap water and mega crop parts a and b. Both should provide plenty of calcium. So next I thought maybe nute lockout caused by... Hey, so I have a 4 x 8 table i plan on setting up with rockwool. I cant find an answer really anywhere. What should I line the table with? Coco Mat has seem like the best choice. Would I still need a drop ceiling plastic grid type thing to keep it off the bottom of the table? Or plastic plastic to line to table. I dont really want to double stack blocks, is getting a slab and sticking 2 or 3 on top of it an option? thanks for any advice from Hydroponics / Aeroponics read more

Does anyone know of any adverse effects if I was to switch from ebb and flow to top feed (drain to waste) using 6x6x6 rockwool cubes? I like flood and drain in my veg room, but I want to build my flower room differently. I read somewhere that dead root matter on the top might cause issues?? So I purchased a ice probe for my veg'ing unit. I'm impressed at its cooling capability. There's not a lot of info out their on these . So I wanna give y'all a bit of Info, one thing is, while they do make a controller, you don't need it to run the unit, in the photos on amazon, they don't show a plug, but it does come with one. I haven't been able to see how cold it will make my resivoir but the probe it's self got ice cold,so I would imagine that in an insulated res it should be able to... I fill a smart pot with 3gl of coco, right? right out of the bag. I prepare a 3gl bucket with just RO water in it to wash the new pot. I pH it down to about 4! (shiny red in the liquid tester). Then I flush the pot with the whole 3gl of water. Runoff EC goes down from 1200 to 500. pH - stays 6.5, won't budge a bloody .1! anyone can tell me anything about it?
