Hi guys, this is my first post, maybe someone is able to shed some light on this issue. I've been a grower for the past 5 years and always managed to find a solution when pH is increasing or decreasing, HOWEVER in this particular grow I am completely out of ideas of what is causing such issue. Basically pH drops on a daily basis from 5.8-6.0 down to 4.1-4.4. I have 6 plants and 2 are purple kush. The purple kush appears droopy. Everything else is fine, and the other 4 plants are not droopy. I'm growing in a 4x4 flood/drain using top feed that drains back to the reservoir. Using AN 3-part (grow, micro, bloom) and most of the additives. The room is temp-controlled (78 degrees), temp at the plant tops is 88 degrees, and the lights are approx 18" above the tops, running 1250ppm CO2. Water is chilled to 65 degrees. Howdy all, second time growing, first time posting here. I recently made the transition to bring my seedlings from my germination light box into the tent. During that transition I placed the rock wool cube into hydroton (which had been washed prior) and several days later I began to see this buildup of black specs around the rock wool. If it is cause for concern, is it too late to transfer the seedling from the rock wool to soil? Any advice on this front? Here are pictures... Soon I'm planning on cloning my mothers which are growng now. I'm running quite a few plants in 6 inch rockwool cubes and I'm having trouble getting them to wet/dry consistently with each other. Some will be totally soaking wet and some are light as a feather at the same time, even if I run the system for 15 mins until my tray is pooling. Some are still extremely light. Let me explain why air-stones are a waste of money and actually impair the oxygenation of your reservoir solution. Fact: Water is oxygenated buy the movement of it's surface, not by little bubbles within. Although the tiny bubbles produced by an air-stone do agitate the surface of your res water, if you pull the air-stone off of your hose, the hose alone will produce much larger bubbles that agitate the surface much better. When I grew in the past I always used Fox Farm nutes. I was looking at Jacks nute line, as I’ve heard nothing but good things. I’m also shopping around trying to figure out what RO system to even get for my city water. I dry ran my setup to check for leaks and all I can smell in the control bucket is chlorine, BAD! Hi guys, I will create clones in an aeroponic cloner which I will then transplant to 4" rockwool cubes for 4 weeks before moving them to a final NFT system for flower. I got these DWC totes and I'm not sure they are thick enough to make the inside of the rez where the water is completely dark. I put some mylar over the rez and it blocks the light better, is mylar necessary of is it over kill?? I use these totes under a T5 and 400 watt hps. What do u think? Been trying to custom fabricate new systems with various PVC materials, like gluing the rims of PVC pipe caps\fittings onto a sheet, or a sheet to sheet, or fittings onto vinyl fence post sleeves, etc, and not getting the results I would like.. So me and my brother are first time growers. We really liked the hydro option and decided to go with that knowing it would be harder to start with. Having said that we killed our first set of plants. Hey Gang! Quick question about nutrient uptake in DWC: Does anyone know if plants consume the nutrient solution as a whole, or are some nutrients consumed faster than others. For example, if a plant consumes a gallon of water, would it also consume 100% of the total dissolved solids in that gallon? Or can it consume something like nitrogen faster than magnesium and over time throwing off the concentration of nutrients in the solution. I haven’t been able to find any information on this... Is it necessary to maintain <68F water temps when running a sterile bubble bucket? Interested in hearing about anyones experiences with a sterile grow. If it is still an issue, what are some good ways of keep the temps down? I can’t afford a chiller! Hi, I am currently in the process of changing my entire grow over from flood and drain using clay pebbles substrate to DWC. One thing I failed to consider is that my grow is big. Really big. I use 1000 liter IBCs cut in half, and grow a SOG consisting of 30 plants and I run 8 of those units so I have 4000 liters of nutrient solution to contend with now, whereas before they were all flooded from a single 1000 liter IBC and aeration wasn't an issue as the solution was pumped up through 1500...
