Hi all My first grow ever, I have a 9 week old autoflower in DWC in its flowering stage and I have been using RO water with added Calmag and Flora Trio nutrients its whole life (around 1/3 of the recommended dosage), no issues. Around 2 weeks ago I started getting sudden pH drops, it would go from 6.2 to 4.8 every 24 hours, yet the plant was growing nicely still. Normally I dilute Southern AG down to 1:20 water ratio then use 1ml per 4L. However, I read you can't add too much beneficial bacteria so I added 10x of my usual amount. Hi guys, for the last couple of years, I've been playing with high-voltage electric fields to make the droplets within an Aeroponic system negatively charged and attracted to the root's of plants. I have purple punch and strawnana dwc 10 or 12 gal bins with usually 4.5gal of solution in them and two large air stones. They are in 5" netpots. I am using the GH flora series and RO water that introduces call and mag back into the water. The RO system was for hydroponic growing. Hi guys, I am running flood and drain with 100L (26 gallon) reseviors. I have airstones in all my reseviors. But reading up recently there is a lot of debate about wether this is a good idea (introduces airborne pathogrens and other nasties). Should I stop doing this? Is a move to small recirculating pumps the best alternative? Do I even need to worry? Will the constant flooding and drain be enough to keep the reseviors well mixed and airated? I read an article where molasses was recommended for hydro. Everywhere else I read said don't. I thought what the hell. Im setting up my 8 site daisy cloner after about a year of sitting around. The problem I had before was that my clones would look picture perfect while in the cloner but they would not grow roots. It seemed to take forever. I used hygrozyme, drop of superthrive and clonex cloning solution in the reservoir until roots show and the directions say to add a dose of bloom formula. But I kept getting white slime growing in the pump and res and would coat the stems of my cuttings. The thing is I... So ive told a bunch of people about this and everyone ive seen do it has had good success. This is how I start all my seeds and transition them into rdwc. This method will work fine for any form of hydro you might use a rockwool cube or rapid rooter to start seeds in. I use a mixture of perlite and coco in double layer seedling trays. My last grow I used 6x6x6 inch rockwool cubes for a heavy sativa grow, and was getting so much root growth from the bottom. Is this normal, or bad? I ask because after dealing with ph dropping constantly and deciding to flush with straight RO water as an experiment, for the first time in about a month my res didn't drop 1.0-2.0ph and instead slightly raised maybe .2-.4ish. Hi all, Got a nice grow going and for the past few days they pretty much stopped eating( ppm not dropping) Prior to stopping they where consuming anywhere from 50 to 100ppm per day. I did some defoliating 5 days ago and from there it started. I know when defoliation happens they get a little stressed out but recover after a few days, im on day 5 and they are now down to consuming 10ppm a day which is basically nothing. I had some old Miracle Grow soluble fertilizer, and watched a few youtubes. Basically the recipe was add 2.5 tablespoons Miracle Grow, 2.5 tablespoons Calcium Nitrate, and 1.25 tablespoons of Epsom salt to 5 gallons. I did that - I used tap water that I added some sodium thisolsate (or something like that) and a little vitamin C to dechlorinate it. The mix looked ok, nothing came out of solution or anything, and it has a nice light blue tint. But I tested the PPM and it came out over... I'm sure this has been done before. My idea is to have a Hempy type system that drains to waste the standing water at the bottom of the bucket, and refills via top feed once per day. I've never tried a Hempy before, but one benefit claimed by this system is that whenever you water from the top the standing water at the bottom gets pushed out and new (fresh) water replaces it. This would not be true for the systems I've seen explained online, because as the new water goes in from the top it... I'm looking to go hydro. Was going to build a diy waterfall system using 17gal totes for bloom and 5gal pots for veg, e.g. 2 separate systems in 2 separate tents, 6-8 spots per tent. Aloha, So I started some seeds I had on hand, (I didn't have much faith in the genetics) and these are the two females out of 6 I started. I had to pull the males out of the system once I identified them. But the roots were already so tangled I just got what I could easily and left the rest to rot, hoping the extra enzymes I added would help break them down. is there a specific amount of time the flood cycle should last ? found a lot of info on amount of floods per day , but not so much on duration of flood . Any issues pumping nutrient runoff into a septic system? Been growing since 67, but this is the first time I tried it without soil. Didn't need to grow inside until now. Real led light due in a week. Been moving my spyder by hand about six times a day. Now on second day in aero changed timing from 3sec on and 3 minutes off, to 2 sec on and 3:35 off. They still seem a little wet, but roots are growing like crazy. This 6 gallon roots farm unit is a 5 sight unit but it also can support one large plant in the middle and that's what I'm doing I've custom retrofit this unit to a small chiller works perfectly keeps the water at exactly what temperature I want right now I'm running it at 68 and 69 degrees chills the water to 68 and once it heats up to 69 it kicks on and chills it back down to 68 so I'm basically running sterile so far and getting really good results going to low stress training this plant... I'm finalizing my design for a RDWC run, and have some basic questions that may or may not influence my end build. 1) Does it mater how high up you place PVC on buckets? Long story short, I ran out of Hydroguard by GH that I have used for years in my hydro reservoirs. Stopped in a hydro store to get some and told that it is discontinued and that Aqua-Shield or something is gong to replace it. Hey all! I thought I'd share an experiment about achieving from seeds to R/DWC directly. First, sprout the seed in paper towel... Should take ~48 hours, then fill your netpot with clays. Take the little one with squeezers and place it gently, leaving the shell's side in an upside position, between two pebbles, to make it easier for the head to grow and reach for the light.... Just soak your netpot every few hours to keep things moist... The root system will establish itself and you'll see... Hi all, I have a 20 bucket grow going and today i noticed some weird stuff on the clay pebbles when i opened the buckets for inspection. at 1st glance it looked like salt build up but when i used a 60x mag it looks fuzzy , like fungus or mold but cant tell. and on 1 pebble i found what looks like to me black mold. what you guys think this is? 4 weeks into veg i run 3 stage water filter , water temp is 69, ec is 1.6 and ph is 6.1. lucas formula+calmag, Southern Ag, and from last water... I was able to figure out that GH FloraBloom most probably doesn't contain 1.5% Magnesium because the only water soluble source of Magnesium that is suitable for hydroponics is derived from Magnesium Sulfate. You can check that fact on Wikipedias solubility chart. Magnesium Sulfate Heptahydrate (Epsom salt) or just plain old Magnesium Sulfate will always be heavier with Sulfur than Magnesium. Not as much bud growth as I hoped at this point but I have over 30 colas that will get more than 1/4 oz off of each so for one plant so should be able to get over 1/2lb off one plant maybe up to 12 oz. 5 1/2 weeks of veg before I flipped her.
