Iron precipitation

I am in a coco DTW system. Having problems with iron precipitating out. I say iron… as it is black but I haven’t tested if it is magnetic. Just occurred to me.
Regardless, black precipitate in my reservoir. Here’s the recipe I am following:


GH Armor Si 3ml/gal
Peters 3.4g/gal
Calcinit 2.3g/gal
Epsom 1.2g/gal
Greenway Cal-Mag powder reconstituted per directions 3ml/gal

I know the cal-mag and Si are not typical in a 3-2-1 setup but I won’t stop using Si because it makes a huge...

Hey all! I thought I'd share an experiment about achieving from seeds to R/DWC directly. First, sprout the seed in paper towel... Should take ~48 hours, then fill your netpot with clays. Is AISI-302 stainless steel good for the reservoir with nutrients?

I am wondering if AISI-302 stainless steel parts are suited for permantent contact with the nutrients? It is because I am thinking about using a non return valve which in the reservoir which has AISI-302 grade parts. I don't know how aggressive the nutrients are to metals and if this kind of stainless steel might bleed toxic stuff into the reservoir.... Any idea? April 22, 2019 at 04:01PM Read more about this fix
